When a new year rolls around, resolutions about getting in shape are often at the top of the list for many people. Taking up more exercise is great for getting fit or losing that holiday weight, but it can also help make your nights a lot more interesting. These seven tips will make your daily workout something that not only improves your health; it will improve your sex life too.
1. S-T-R-E-T-C-H
No matter what your routine, make sure you start – and finish – with a lengthy period of stretching. Not only will this help you to avoid injury during your work out, it will also increase your flexibility over time. That flexibility will come in handy when you’re ready to try some new positions.
2. Work Those Core Muscles
Exercises that focus on your core also help to improve balance and endurance. Go for traditional yoga poses or moves that work on a balance ball. There are dozens of different moves, including the simple modification of traditional exercises. Perform your sit ups while balancing on an exercise ball or introduce yoga poses ort a modified Tai Chi routine.
3. Kegels (aka Pelvic Floor Exercises)
Kegels are something women have known about for ages, but which men are only just recently beginning to use. The exercise is simple and can be done anywhere, anytime. Simply tighten the muscles in your groin as if you were trying to stop peeing mid-stream. Hold the position for a count of 10, release and repeat. It’s that simple.
4. Endurance
The biggest benefit exercise can bring to your sex life is by increasing your overall endurance. In order to make the most of this part of your routine, make sure the peak of your workout lasts 10 – 15 minutes and you break a sweat. The best exercises to increase endurance will get your heart rate going. Focus on full body moves like squats, lunges and interval training.
5. Upper Body Plus Balance
For men, endurance relies heavily on their upper body strength as well as overall endurance. In order to give this area the focus it needs, it’s time to get creative. Combine the exercises you enjoy in a way that gives you an all over workout. The best example of this is the exercise ball bench press. Simply grab your favorite set of dumb bells along with your exercise ball. Lay back on the ball, balancing yourself with your feet and bench press your dumb bells as you would a traditional set of weights on a bench press. It can be hard to manage to balance and complete the sets at first, so start out with lighter weights until you find your groove.
6. The Ab Wheel
If you have one of those Ab Wheels, they can become an integral part of your better sex workout. Use the wheel and stretch out as far as you physically can. As you return to a kneeling pose, go slowly in order to build up muscle, balance, control and stamina. Don’t have an Ab Wheel? They’re fairly easy to make, even if you don’t want to spend any money. A wooden or metal rod along with a few bolts and some wheels and viola!
7. Make it a Routine
No matter how you create your workout for better sex, it will only work if you stick to it and make it part of your daily routine. Do whatever you need to do in order to keep yourself motivated. It takes a minimum of 21 days to form a new habit and the longer you stick with it, the more deeply ingrained that habit will become. So motivate yourself any way you see fit and before you know it, you’ll start seeing results.
